The business sections of multiple news sites have claimed that an Albuquerque-based contractor "is set to break ground in the next two weeks on a $2.4 million complex for the San Juan Diego Friary. The new 17,000-square-foot complex will feature a living space, chapel, gathering areas, eating space and kitchen" and that "the existing structure at 404 San Mateo Blvd. NE will remain intact as the new structure is built and then portions of it will be demolished."
We would like to make it very clear that this is untrue. We are not affiliated with the contractor cited in the erroneous article, and we are not building a new friary.
The article has since been corrected. The building that is being rebuilt belongs to the OFM Franciscans on the west side of Albuquerque.
